Definition:
A collector of life insurance.
Use:
The dead man is coming.
The insurance man is coming.
Derivation:
All weekly-paid policies (particularly from the Royal Liver Friendly Society) were taken out to pay the cost of a funeral, hence the 'Dead man' - the collector of insurance premiums.
