Use: The scrip is collected every week.
The membership subscription is collected every week.
Derivation: Possibly contraction of subscription. Note Irish 'Screpul', Latin 'Screpulus', in law (ancient laws of Ireland) a unit of value, also fee, contribute, tribute. (Quin). And note 'Scrip' (Scotland and Kent) - a bill. (Wright).
