Definition: A savings scheme operated over a given period of time by a fixed number of people contributing a pre-determined amount of money each week. he members drew lots to decide the order of drawing the collection - but the organiser had the option of taking the first collection. Manages were considerd a bad risk as members who collected in the early weeks of the scheme were known to default, leaving the other members short of money. Contrast with Didlum.
